The Department of Mathematics of KFUPM offers PhD in several fields of specializations within the two main areas: Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. After successful completion of PhD in Mathematics, the graduates are ready not only for post doctorates, teaching & research positions at universities, but also for jobs requiring solid advanced background in mathematics in all governmental and private sectors, (e.g. business, industry, telecommunications).
Applicants to the PhD Program in Mathematics must have a master’s degree in mathematics or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.2 out of 4 from an institution of acceptable standing according to the criteria defined by the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies at KFUPM. Applicants should also meet the standards of performance in any requirement by the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies, for example IELTS/TOEFL. An applicant with deficiency may be admitted, with the understanding that the course work taken to remove the deficiency will not be credited towards the degree.
