Description

Master’s degrees are designed to provide very advanced academic and professional knowledge and skill for students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree with a high level of achievement, normally a GPA of 3.0 or better. The Master of Science (MS) curriculum is designed to develop advanced understanding through research and creativity of wide range of investigations in petroleum geology and hydrogeology/environmental geology emphases, with focus primarily on geological processes. Furthermore, students will become familiar with recent developments in the Earth sciences through a range of coursework and investigative projects. Students have the option to pursue a thesis-based Master of Science degree (MS) as either full-time or part-time students, or a non-thesis-based Master of Geology (M Geol) degree. The latter intended for working professionals seeking to upgrade their skillsets with the latest approaches and techniques in the Earth sciences. Given that the last revisions to the Geology Master’s programs were enacted over a decade ago, it has become timely and necessary to address modernization of our programs.
