Description

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management program at KFUPM is to produce graduates who will play leading roles in managing and leading organizations they work for and function effectively in HR-related positions in a variety of contexts both locally and globally.

The mission focuses on producing leaders that can have a local and international impact. This is in line with KFUPM mission which: “To make a difference within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond in the fields of sciences, engineering and business; we are committed to ​graduating leaders who are knowledgeable, skillful, and productive members of a vibrant society​​, ​creating new knowledge that makes a scholarly impact, provides innovative solutions, and contributes to a thriving national economy, and ​engaging our society, alumni, and partners, in valuable endeavors to build an ambitious nation.

Program Educational Objectives

The undergraduate program of Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Resource Management is designed to graduate students who are expected to attain (within a few years) of graduation the following PEOs:

  1. Ability to communicate business ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
  2. Ability to function effectively as a member or leader of a team in performing group tasks in business and professional organizations.
  3. Ability to apply logic and exercise sound judgment in making decisions (reflective thinking).
  4. Ability to understand, analyze and use quantitative data to make business decisions and/or solve business problems (Analytical and quantitative skills).
  5. Ability to recognize, understand and evaluate ethical issues in business situations
  6. Ability to use information technology as a business enabler.
  7. Ability to take initiative, show confidence and exercise leadership in business and professional organizations (Leadership skills).
  8. Awareness and understanding of cultural issues that impact business operations in a global society (Multicultural and Diversity Understanding).
  9. Ability to apply functional area concepts and theories appropriately (HRM-Specific Knowledge).
  10. HRM graduates will master the principles, concepts, policies, guidelines and procedures needed for measuring and analyzing information for effective decision-making, and for implementing and controlling plans for effective and efficient performance at the individual, team and overall organizational levels.
Student Outcomes

The Human Resource Management (BS) students by the time of graduation will have the ability to:

  1. Students will be able to identify leadership principles and problem-solving techniques.
  2. Students will be able to identify principles and concepts related to data-driven decision-making approaches.
  3. Students will be able to explain basic concepts, theories, and contemporary industry / societal practices in HRM.
  4. Students will be able to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas through oral communication.
  5. Students will be able to prepare complete, clear, and concise written reports conveying complex information effectively.
  6. Students will be able to drive innovation and effective change through creative problem-solving and identifying growth opportunities.
  7. Students will be able to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make sound business decisions that consider immediate and future implications.
  8. Students will be able to analyze and interpret relevant data to make informed decisions in various business situations.
  9. Students will be able to analyze HRM problems and develop appropriate plans/strategies for addressing them.
  10. Students will be able to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive team to achieve common goals.
  11. Students will be able to identify potential ethical and sustainability frameworks to develop effective solutions.
  12. Students will be able to identify sustainability and ethical issues and apply these as lenses in developing HRM solutions.
